Distinct Winners of the First Local Public Relations Awards Announced
(Hong Kong, 14 April 2011) To showcase the best practices and appraise the professional standards of public relations in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Public Relations Professionals’ Association (PRPA) announces today the results of the first Hong Kong Public Relations Awards 2010 (HK PR Awards 2010).
Having received overwhelming responses and tremendous support from the industry, the HK PR Awards 2010 honoured 12 awards winners at the Award Presentation Ceremony which was held this evening in Hong Kong Jockey Club.
The HK PR Awards 2010 aims to give due recognition to organisations and industry practitioners for high professional standards with outstanding performance. As Dr. John Chan, Chairperson of the Organising Committee of the HK PR Awards 2010 said, “It is our vision to enhance the standards of public relations professionalism for the industry to further and better serve the business community, public organisations, non-governmental organisations and the Hong Kong community at large.”
The winners were selected in a conscientious process. Formed by veteran professionals from commercial, academia, media and public relations sectors, the Judging Panel selected the winning entries with careful scoring process within a tight timeframe. “The winning campaigns were exemplary,” said Professor Paul Lee, the Chief Judge of the Panel. “It was extremely difficult to select the winners from nearly 60 entries under different categories of the awards. The event bear witness to the important role public relations professionals played and the contribution they made to the Hong Kong community”.
To commemorate its 15th anniversary, the PRPA hosted the HK PR Awards 2010 as part of its celebration programmes. From sketch to launch, it took more than two years for the HK PR Awards 2010 to become realized. In the hope of setting up an enduring benchmark for Hong Kong’s public relations and communications industry, Mr. William Ip, the President of PRPA, found that the HK PR Awards 2010 was more than just identifying the best campaigns. It also reflected professionalism of Hong Kong’s PR practitioners in the diversity of the community.
The HK PR Awards 2010 spotlighted the excellent public relations campaigns in Reputation and Brand Management, Corporate Social Responsibility, Public Affairs and Integrated Marketing Communications. Two individual awards — Distinguished Professional of the Year and Young Professional of the Year — were presented to outstanding practitioners.
The event received extraordinary support from 22 organisations and individuals for their sponsorships, 15 supporting organisations and 2 media partners.
